On Blogging

I have a very strange relationship with this blog right now. Some things are happening in my life that I've chosen not to blog about (for various reasons). That said, I don't want to hold any of myself back here and I don't want to hide. I want to be an honest writer. In any event, I received some big news today. I can't be myself on this blog and not have made that statement.

I'm confused about where my boundaries are right now and just how much of myself I want to share.

But then, I guess that's not such a big surprise. I've always been confused about a lot of things.

I guess I'm just throwing this out there. Do any of you have parts of your life that you just don't blog about? Am I crazy for wanting to keep some things separate?

love,
h

I keep things off my blog all the time, but the difference there is that my blog is not nearly as anonymous as yours. Having said that, you have a fair number of friends who know you in real life who read your blog, so even your encoded writings have real-life fallout for some.

I don't see a problem with holding back some things, especially since you share so much as it is. So long as your blog doesn't revolve completely around your cat, I think you're writing enough to make it worthwhile.

I keep a lot of things off the blog. I twist some truths so they don't sound as bad as they really are.

This is your space to do with it as you choose. If you don't write it here, you should write it somewhere so that it isn't trapped inside of you.

I hope you are okay.

hey - i agree. it's your blog, and you need to do whatever works for you. because you know that other ppl are reading it, you're always going to, if not censor yourself, at least think about how others will view you. you can always change your mind if you want to. i'm thinking about you! call or email if you want. -Sarah663

I keep things to myself all the time. There's nothing wrong with not putting everything into your blog. :0)

Mostly I kept things off my blog that might hurt other people. I wrote a lot of things on my blog I would only do anonymously. I was getting to attached to some of my readers. So I quit. I think I know how you feel.

Like most, I censor things, although not much. It's a matter of personal choice.

There are absolutely things I don't blog about. Some because I don't want to share certain parts of me, and some because I don't want to risk hurting people I care about with revealing what I really think on some issues.

It's okay not to want to put things up on your blog, as long as aren't also trying to hide them from yourself.

There are a ton of things I don't blog about. I don't use my kid's name, nor do I say much about him. I have never posted any pictures of myself or anyone in my house. I don't tell people who I work for because everyone who lived in the state of Kansas would know who I am. I don't talk about my personal life with my boyfriend and how much it can really suck. Matter of fact, I don't talk about anything with any real substance, and that is sad.

I love your blog because you are real. You lay it out there, mistakes and all. I only wish I could be more like that.
