My message was wrong. We turned 19 the year we lived with our sisters of the yellow tea rose, not 20. Still, remember how weird it felt to be almost two whole decades old and officially out of adolescence? Maybe 30 will seem young to us one day... On the upside, you still have a year of your twenties left. I have only 11 months to go. It seems so monumental, like I'll automatically assume a new identity or stage of adulthood. Remember when I used to complain about the "old" women at my gym who wore pigtails even though they were "like, thirty"? While I still maintain that only assholes wear pigtails over the age of 7, the gym womens' hair was especially annoying to me because they seemed so old. I probably thought of them as middle-aged. It seems funny now... but also very, very sad. Well my friends are gone and my hair is gray. I ache in the places where I used to play.
